La Crosse River Marsh Restoration Project
In 2020 the City of La Crosse Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department, working with the Friends of the La Crosse River Marsh, has launched a multi-year restoration project to address hydrology, habitat, and recreational infrastructure in the La Crosse River Marsh. The consulting firm SmithGroup, Inc. is providing professional environmental services to evaluate historic and current conditions, design changes, prepare work plans and estimates, and manage construction.
On November 17, 2021, Dave Wolmutt, Principal Engineer for SmithGroup, and his team of specialists provided an update of the first year of their study of the marsh and potential projects that can begin to restore its proper ecological functioning. Watch a recording of that presentation below.
